OUR JOURNEY
SCORAH’s journey is a story of innovation, excellence, and collaboration—built on over two decades of experience in medical society management, continuing medical education, physician engagement, and hands-on clinical training. What began as a focused effort to support individual medical societies and educational programs has evolved into a comprehensive organization dedicated to advancing healthcare education and improving the way medical professionals learn, collaborate, and practice.
At every stage, SCORAH has grown by identifying the evolving needs of physicians and medical organizations and developing the infrastructure, expertise, and partnerships necessary to meet those needs. From society development and accreditation to national conferences, industry-supported education, faculty management, and hands-on procedural training, each milestone has strengthened SCORAH’s ability to deliver high-quality, compliant, and meaningful educational experiences.
Our organization specializes in non-profit medical society compliance, grounded in deep expertise across the internal healthcare and medical association landscape. We bring comprehensive understanding of industry-specific regulations, ethical standards, and operational requirements unique to medical societies, while upholding rigorous corporate compliance practices that ensure transparency, accountability, and sound governance. In addition, we excel in non-profit society management compliance—addressing the distinct legal, regulatory, and operational obligations of membership-based medical organizations. This includes governance best practices, membership and educational program compliance, conflict-of-interest management, financial stewardship, and adherence to both sector-specific standards and broader non-profit regulations. By integrating specialized knowledge of the medical industry, strong corporate compliance frameworks, and tailored non-profit society management, we help medical societies operate with integrity, maintain stakeholder trust, and fulfill their missions effectively and responsibly.
2004: The Beginning — Building a Foundation in Medical Education
Michelle Robson began producing the 14th Napa Pain Conference for Dr. Eric Grigsby. This experience marked the beginning of a career dedicated to medical education, physician engagement, and professional society management.
That same year, Michelle launched Mantra/MB Business, establishing a foundation for what would become a broader medical education and management organization. Early efforts centered on providing physicians and medical societies with the organizational support necessary to develop successful educational programs, manage membership organizations, and create meaningful professional experiences.
Mantra/MB Business assumed management of the West Virginia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (WVSIPP). Under new leadership and with a renewed strategic focus, the organization was relaunched as a stand-alone medical society.
The transformation demonstrated the value of combining strong organizational management with a clear understanding of physicians’ educational and professional needs. WVSIPP experienced exponential growth, establishing a model for how a medical society could expand its reach, strengthen member engagement, and create sustainable educational programming.
2010–2014: Achieving Excellence in Accreditation
From 2010 through 2014, Mantra guided WVSIPP through the rigorous process of achieving ACCME accreditation. This required the development and implementation of comprehensive systems for educational planning, compliance, documentation, faculty management, needs assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
In 2014, WVSIPP achieved ACCME Accreditation with Commendation, a significant accomplishment that placed the organization among the highest-performing accredited CME providers. The achievement validated the infrastructure and processes developed by the team and established a benchmark for the quality, compliance, and educational excellence that would become central to SCORAH’s identity.
2018: Helping Launch ASPN and Expanding the Vision
In 2018, the team played a pivotal role in the founding of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN). The organization quickly emerged as an influential platform for physicians and other healthcare professionals working at the intersection of pain medicine, neuroscience, and innovative treatment approaches.
ASPN’s growth was extraordinary. Within a few years, the society expanded exponentially and developed annual meetings attracting 2,500+ attendees. Supporting that growth required much more than traditional meeting management. It demanded sophisticated systems for membership development, educational programming, faculty coordination, industry relationships, compliance, marketing, and large-scale event execution.
The experience reinforced an important principle that continues to guide SCORAH: exceptional medical education requires both exceptional content and exceptional infrastructure.
2021: Expanding the Team and Building Operational Excellence
As the volume and complexity of medical education programs increased, Mantra Meetings expanded its internal capabilities in 2021 by bringing together dedicated team members with specialized expertise.
New and expanded capabilities included meeting logistics, medical grant compliance, CME compliance, faculty management, graphic design, marketing, and conference operations. By bringing these functions together under one organization, the team was able to provide a more integrated approach to medical education—from the initial development of an educational concept through execution, evaluation, and follow-up.
This expansion also allowed Mantra to support increasingly sophisticated programs while maintaining the attention to detail, responsiveness, and compliance required in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
2022: The Formation of SCORAH
In 2022, a significant new chapter began with the formation of SCORAH, created through the merger of Mantra/MB Business and Scot Sarver’s team.
The merger brought together complementary strengths and expertise, creating an organization capable of providing a more complete range of services to medical societies, physicians, healthcare organizations, and educational partners.
SCORAH combined deep experience in society management, CME and regulatory compliance, medical education, meeting operations, hands-on training laboratories, faculty engagement, and premium educational experiences. Rather than treating these functions as separate services, SCORAH brought them together into an integrated model designed around the needs of modern healthcare education.
The formation of SCORAH represented more than a change in name or structure—it established a broader vision for what a medical education partner could be.
2023: Expanding the Network and Global Reach
By 2023, SCORAH was managing an increasingly diverse portfolio of medical societies and educational organizations, including ASPN, AAPM, FSIPP, EPA, STARS, PSPS, WAPMU and the Vagus Nerve Society.
The organization continued to expand its conference portfolio and educational reach, supporting programs designed for physicians and healthcare professionals across multiple specialties and geographic markets. This growth reflected SCORAH’s ability to adapt its model to the unique needs of each organization while maintaining consistent standards for quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
With an expanding global footprint, SCORAH increasingly became more than a meeting management organization. It evolved into a strategic partner for organizations seeking to build communities, advance medical knowledge, develop innovative educational programs, and create experiences that translate learning into clinical practice.
Today: Continuing the Journey
Today, SCORAH builds on this history with a clear mission: to elevate medical education through innovation, collaboration, operational excellence, and meaningful physician engagement.
The organization’s journey from a single medical conference in 2006 to a comprehensive medical education and society management partner reflects a commitment to continuous growth and improvement. Each milestone has added new capabilities, relationships, and expertise while reinforcing the same fundamental goal—to help healthcare professionals learn more effectively, collaborate more meaningfully, and ultimately improve patient care.
We also have expanded our focus to include fitness and wellness. Two of our principal members earned certification in ESSENTRICS® training methods, strengthening our ability to address the growing need for integrated fitness, wellness, and mental health support. This addition broadens the full educational scope we provide to professionals, ensuring comprehensive development that encompasses physical well-being alongside professional and compliance competencies.
SCORAH Cares was established early in 2026. SCORAH Cares is a nonprofit initiative that partners with communities by selecting and supporting a local charity in every city where we host meetings. Through this model, we channel resources, awareness, and collective action directly to organizations making a meaningful difference on the ground—whether addressing hunger, education, health, or other pressing needs—ensuring that our gatherings create lasting impact beyond the room and strengthen the places we visit.
SCORAH’s story is still being written. Its foundation is built on experience, but its focus remains firmly on the future: creating the next generation of medical education, supporting the organizations that drive innovation, and connecting healthcare professionals with the knowledge, technology, and communities that can transform practice.
